I really appreciated the theurgy vs. thaumaturgy part. This was (synchronistically and perfectly) something I was feeling into right as I signed up for Hall of Hermes without knowing you'd be talking about this or that there was a name for what I was feeling into.
I had joined a group to do some Jupiter magic at the same time I signed up for this (or maybe a few days before) and as soon as I joined this other group something immediately came up in me that felt "off". Like, something felt there was a thread of begging.
I've done some amazing Jupiter magic in the past and have made a connection to Jupiter that has made me cry more than once. But there was something about joining this group that felt like "chasing".
Yep! It's tricky because thaumaturgy really can be exactly what you want. It's not an ERROR to practice thaumaturgy. It's just prone to confusion and traps when theurgy isn't prioritized.
